
The Serval boasts very long legs
in proportion to body size. These
long legs allow it to see over the
tall savanna grasses in search of
prey. They are very efficient hunters,
catching prey an average of 50% of
the time compared with 10% for
most other cats. They can jump
straight up 15’ allowing them to
catch prey mid air.

The African Serval main habitat is the savanna. They require watercourses within their territory, so they do not live in semi-deserts or dry steppes. They are able to climb and swim, but seldom do. They have dwindled in numbers due to human population taking over their habitat and also hunting their pelt. They are protected in most countries.

On average they weigh around 30 pounds while standing about 20” tall. After a gestation period Of 112 days one to three kittens are born. They are a very verbal cat. We are constantly being told off by our male. .Average lifespan is 12 years but they have been known to live up to 20 years in captivity. |
