SAFARI CAMP
Safari Camp

Through our partnership with Pawsitively Pets, they are able to provide a truly unique Safari Camp experience. Campers will have a once in a lifetime chance to work with a wide variety of animals. There are over 50 species at the zoo ranging from mammals to birds and reptiles. This ranges from baby wallabies and baby porcupines to lynx, lemurs, ferrets, rabbits, kinkajou, fox, marmosets, genets, patagonia cavies, and zebus just to name a few!

What an experience Safari Camp is - campers have the chance to spend a week working hard as zookeepers to ensure the comfort and well-being of the animals. This is NOT a "water-downed" or "make-believe" zoo-keeping position. This is the real thing! Campers do everything from watering, feeding, cage cleaning, behavioural enrichment projects and working hands on with the animals.

Safari Zoo Camp is ideal for campers that hope to pursue a career in animal care, welfare and/or conservation... or simply for those that love animals and the outdoors. Join us on this one of a kind WILDLIFE ADVENTURE!

CLICK HERE for the daily schedule. Please note that the order in which the schedule happens each day will depend on the group your camper is in and the days they are registered for camp. The order of programming will vary depending on group assignment.

Keeper For A Day

Ever wondered what it would be like to work just feet away from Eurasian Lynx, Wild Foxes, Ruffed Lemurs ? Have you ever wondered what exactly goes on behind the scenes? Well here's your chance to get a peek at our Zoo life accompanying those who know it best, the keepers! Your honorary morning as a keeper will let you see all that it takes to get the Zoo up and open for the public as you take part in the cleaning, feeding and shifting of animals onto exhibit.
So "come and get it!" - a taste of what our day is really like!
This unique opportunity is available on the weekends to those ages 10 and up (so adults, you too can come and satisfy the 'kid curiosity' in you!). Your day will begin at 9am as we move animals, get the feed cart ready, feed animals off display. Then at 11 we will begin our feeding tour. Your day will end at 2pm. Whether you're interested in animal care as a career or just want to have some fun, this program is well worth all the sweat & smells. For more information and/or to schedule your weekend keeper experience give us a call or drop into our admission booth.

Due to the popularity of this program combined with only having 32 available spots. (only one person per day) we require a
Minimum of One-Week Advanced Registration and Payment in full.
You must be attentive and follow directions at all times. Although our animals are accustomed to having their human caregivers working close to them, they are still animals and their behavior is unpredictable. It is important that you pay close attention to the guidance and instructions of the keeper you are spending the time with you. Never enter any animal area without direction from one of the keepers. Always wait for instructions and authorization from the keeper before approaching any of the animals.

We reserve the right to disqualify any one that we do not feel is capable of following direction both for the safety of the individual and the safety of our animals.
Understand that if you are under 18 years of age you must have a parent or guardian report to the Zoo Keeper for an introduction and to sign your liability waiver.
