Female two-toed sloth’s give birth to a single offspring after a gestation of
345 days. The baby called a pup will nurse for a minimum of 9 months and will stay with its mother for more then 2 years. Two-toed sloth’s do not reach sexual maturity until 4-5 years of age. In captivity they have an average life span of 15-18 years. They have very poor hearing & eyesight and rely entirely on their sense of smell to find food. If they were human they would be considered blind & deaf.

Hoffman’s Two-toed Sloth is native to Central & South America. They are a solitary, nocturnal & arboreal animal
found in mature rainforests and
deciduous trees. They are named to commemorate the German Naturalist Karl Hoffman

With their shaggy fur, huge claws and slow deliberate movements, two toed sloth’s are unlikely to be confused with any other animal. At 12-15 pounds and about 24 inches in length, these nocturnal animals are perfect for moving about in the treetops of their rainforest habitat. |
