After a gestation period of 114 days they will give birth to 1-12 babies called piglets. The piglets will nurse from Mom as long as Mom will let them. Normally by about 6 weeks Mom will wean them as the sharp little teeth that are in by then makes nursing painful for Mom. Average lifespan for a Pot Bellied Pig is 15 years although some have lived good lives to 30 years of age.

Pot Bellied pigs originated in
Southeast Asia. 1985, when Canadian Keith Connell imported the first potbellied pigs into North America, he had no idea what he had started. Originally, he intended to supply the pigs to zoos, but a private buyer interested in the pigs as pets started the porcine pets on their way to worldwide distribution and fame as house pets.

Pigs are not dirty. They
are actually very clean animals.
They are very intelligent and highly social. That is why is it
very Important that you do your research before deciding to get a pot bellied pig as a pet. They are much more complex & needy then you would expect them to be. |
