Female Red Kangaroos have one baby, called a joey, which at birth is smaller than a cherry. The infant immediately climbs into it’s mother’s pouch and does not emerge for two months. The joey will come and go to mom’s pouch for up to 8 months.




The Red Kangaroo is native to the deserts and open grasslands of Australia. They are mammals , herbivores and are the world’s largest marsupials. They gather in groups called mobs.

The average lifespan in the wild is up to 23 years and can weigh up to 200 lbs.
A Red Kangaroo can reach a speed of 56 kms (35 miles) an hour, cover 8 meters (25 feet) in a single leap and jump 1.8 meters (6 feet) high.
